Stainless steel chain A316 is a non-magnetic alloy chain, composed of Manganese, Chromium, Nickel & Molybdenum, made to ASTM 80 specifications. It is highly resistant to salt water and chemicals and will not spark. Its uses include food processing, marine, fishing and industrial applications when high corrosion resistance is required.
Stainless steel chain A304 is a longer pitch link made to NACM specifications and the alloying components exclude the use of Molybdenum. It has lower Working Load Limits than A316 and is used mainly for decorative and low load applications.
Due to the high cost of stainless steel material, tie down chains usually only use carbon steel with zinc plate.
