Recently I rented a pick up truck to move a lot of small stuff . Most stuff I have are things in cardboard boxes, luggage bags, shoe boxes, small chairs, hiking equipment , toy bikes , some loose toys , in a word, it’s a mess. In the beginning I believed that I could pack them well, in the middle of stacking I was totally lost. When the trunk is full I just stared at the mess I created, said to myself, I just did that? OK, I actually did that. Then it occurred to me that I couldn’t get on my way like this, if I did there would be possible consequences like these: most likely the big mess would just throw themselves off the truck and there would be high probability to cause accidents, or before anything could happen I would be stopped by a police officer and get ticketed.

I had at lease two options , I either could repack everything and tie them down or just hold the whole mess together with something, OK, even I start over I still will have to find something to secure the load, these choices actually mean one thing, I need some cargo control stuff for my pick up. Do I need heavy duty tie downs such as ten thousand pounds ratcheting straps or grade 70 tie down chains? Definitely no.

At first I was totally lost because there so many tie downs, but when I narrow down my search to pick up truck I was able to find something useful, at first I found some 1” ratchet straps, camouflage ones, I liked these straps but they are too much in strength for me, even the price was pretty good, cam buckle straps were in the same shoes, all I could see was something too much in strength, too little in real world use, the 1” ratchet straps won’t be able to do anything to the huge mess, only would bring more chaos. Small pieces need something like a net to hold them together, not tie downs. Fortunately I found this darling cargo net , with the size 60”x84”(5′x7′) , which is a perfect match, just put the cargo net on top the pile then tie it down, you’re all set. Of course when we’re talking about cargo net we have to mention bungee cords , actually the cargo net are made of connected bungee cords. In a nutshell, the small cargo nets and bungee cords are light duty tie downs made just for the purpose of holding together and tying down small but irregular loads such as the pickup truck mess in my case. There are a lot interesting use for these cords and nets, the only limit is your imagination. Now let’s talk about something else, another popular pick up cargo control stuff a lock bar , people use these bars to divide trunk, stop stuff from shifting, you see it’s usefulness makes it popular choice for pick up drivers.
